What Does Nam-myoho-renge-kyo Mean?

So glad you asked!

Nam Myoho Renge Kyo means:

"I fuse my life with the mystic law of cause and effect through sound vibration".

I like to think of it as "I am one with the flow of life" because that's what it does...it puts us in rhythm with our own lives and everything around us.
We are all Buddhas.
We possess the power of the entire universe in our lives. Chanting this phrase brings it out.

Aligning our energies with our mentor Daisaku Ikeda, and chanting these words every morning and evening,
studying the writings of Nichiren Daishonin and Daisaku Ikeda and introducing others to this practice
are the keys to living vibrant, happy and victorious lives!

It's a law. It works whether you believe in it or not.

People all over the world chant this phrase with the Sokka Gakkai International. The Website link is sgi-usa.org. I encourage you to go there. Call the center nearest you and get the name of someone who practices near you. Go to a meeting and make new friends. You'll be starting on a whole new journey of happiness.

It doesn't cost anything...you don't have to "do" anything to chant. Just try!

It's truly a practice for anyone...no rules...no dues...no eating restrictions...just chant!
And practice. Chant every morning and evening...then you'll be writing me to tell me your results!

Remember...dream big...go for the impossible!

In a few days this blog will be ten years old. That's right. There are well over 2,000 posts here, and 2,500,000 people have viewed it. Thank you for chanting and introducing others. Thank you for sharing, and above all else, I greet you my Buddha friends, in this Buddha Land!

When we are Disappointed - 3 Keys to Getting Back on Top

Surfers in Santa Cruz, California

You can subscribe to this blog by putting your email in the box to the right

We all have disappointments from time to time. Sometimes we have expectations and we try very hard and BOOM - things just don't work out the way we want them to...and it can be really upsetting.

Sometimes it feels like a wave is taking us under. But we have the greatest treasure. We know we are Buddhas.

We are Buddhas who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. We have access to our deepest, most powerful selves (our Buddha Nature) by intoning these powerful words. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo means "I fuse my life with the mystic law of cause and effect through sound vibration (or Sutra)" activating this vibration changes our lives profoundly...even if we just experienced a set back.

Daisaku Ikeda says:

"Resolve to be the sun.
This is the first thing you must do.
As long as you are the sun,
No matter what problem you may be facing now,
The dawn will always break,
Fine weather will always return,
And spring will never fail to arrive."

From Faith into Action, page 8

And when you have a disappointment there are three things important to keep in mind:

1. Don't give up. Really. DO NOT GIVE UP. Do not think: "I did not pass this exam, so there is no hope for me." or "If I didn't get that job, I won't be able to get any job." Please do not think that your life is not worth living. I promise. It IS. YOU are important. You are important. And life can turn on a dime. Tomorrow IS another day. It is. Reach out. Call a friend. Call a hotline. Do not give up my friend.

2. Use this practice. It's yours! Chant. Even if it's hard. Even if you feel you're not really connecting. Even if you can only chant a short time. Do it. Morning and evening. Chant. Invite your friends to join you. It's okay to cry and chant. I've done that enough times!
And tell people about the practice. This week I told every professional I talked to on the phone, and just about everyone I met. And read president Ikeda's guidance every day.

3. Please do not beat yourself up. You are human. You are a Buddha, but you are also human. I like to look myself in the eye when I get down and tell myself some encouraging words. You can too. You can go to the mirror, look yourself in the eye and say "I love you. I have a lot to offer. I'm okay. I'm a BUDDHA! This will work out. I'm okay," or whatever message you like. When we look ourselves in the eye and speak positively to ourselves it makes a difference. Try it. Don't take my word for it.

Daisaku Ikeda also says:

"It is not a question of your environment,
those around you,
or what the organization or leaders may be like.
To be swayed by such externals is pointless.
It all comes down to one person: you.
What matters is that you become a brilliant beacon,
shining with joy and happiness,
and live your life with confidence and courage.
If you shine with radiant light,
there can be no darkness in your life."

From Faith into Action, page 8

As always, I'm a fellow Buddha like you. I'm an enthusiastic SGI member, but I don't represent the SGI officially. I post this blog to encourage you through my own life.

3 Ways to Celebrate YOU and Your Friendships on Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is February 14th in America. Many people have a love/hate relationship with this holiday because it's traditionally when you receive a token of love from someone who loves you...
But what if you're not in a relationship? Or, worse yet, what if you have a significant other who doesn't "believe" in Valentine's day, calls it a "Hallmark Holiday" and refuses to participate. There can be many ways to be disappointed or sad when Valentine's Day comes along.

Not for me. Not anymore!

Several years ago I embarked on the greatest love of all...cultivating my love for myself from within my own life.

I truly believe as Louise Hay states, that loving ourselves is the greatest journey we can take, and all love that surrounds us stems from love of ourselves.

So now, when Valentine's Day comes around I follow my own traditions:

Ways
to Have a
Fabulous Valentine's Day!

1. Spread the love!
Make Valentine's Day about SHOWING your love...not about waiting for someone to give it to you. I've already spent a few hours writing and addressing cards to those I love..girlfriends...family members...even new business friends. Every day this week I've given gifts and surprises to people...bringing them joy, and ME joy! If you don't have a lot of friends, this is the perfect time to reach out to new potential friends. Be bold!

2. Reach Out!
Call some friends you haven't talked to in a while. I set a dinner date with a dear friend, and I've called some friends I haven't spoken to recently.

3. Love YourSelf!
Show YourSelf some love! You are special! Express your love to yourself. What can you give yourSELF? I'm going to get a massage, and continue to express my love to myself and others. I now am walking regularly, and swimming at least 20 lengths of the pool every day, and it feels great!
On Valentine's Day I'm connecting with beloved friends and have fun things planned to honor my life and my friends. I'll be giving away some Valentines, too.

Make it fun. Valentine's Day is about love. It's up to all of us to bring love, to feel love, to build love.
I'm sending love to YOU right now ~*

You Possess a Glorious Future - Have the Spirit to Begin Anew!

A bad day doesn't mean a bad practice. We all have them...days when we feel we really can't connect to our source of strength via chanting and using the ultimate tool, the Gohonzon. (Scroll which represents our highest life condition. See sgi-usa.org for more explanation.)

Do you ever sit down with clear intention to chant, but then get interrupted, or just not be able to really give it your all? This happens to the best of believers...to every single one of us. (If it NEVER happens to you, please write me and tell me your secret.)

And the important thing is not to think "oh, this really doesn't work...or I should just give up...what's the use anyway? I can't chant this morning, so I won't try tonight", and suddenly tomorrow comes and it's too hard to chant that day too?

Here's the slippery slope.

And the antidote, I believe, is to treat every gongyo as the sacred session with your own life that it truly is. If you can't do it in the morning, or you don't feel like you were able to feel that connection...well, in the evening, make another determination and don't fall off the bandwagon as they say. And if that doesn't work, make the determination to start the next day with a bright and fresh gongyo and daimoku.

Aahhhh, when you do this continually, and never concede defeat, your life will shine!

Daisaku Ikeda says, in Faith Into Action, page 146, under "Perseverance":

"No matter what the circumstances,
you should never concede defeat.
Never conclude that you've reached a dead end,
that everything is finished.
You possess a glorious future.
Precisely because of that,
you must persevere and study.
Life is eternal.
We need to focus on the two existences
of the present and the future,
and not get caught up in worry about the past.
We must always have the spirit to begin anew
"from this moment,"
to initiate a new struggle each day."

Life is Like a Sea Voyage - By Daisaku Ikeda

"Life is like a sea voyage.
We each need to open up our own course in life
with the strengths of our convictions,
unperturbed by the crashing breakers
of life's stormy seas.
The fiercer the tempest rages,
the more we need to rouse our own fighting spirit
and man the tiller
with all our strength and skill crying
"Bring it on!"
Through this type of arduous struggle
we can forge the practical wisdom
to triumph consistently
and as victorious champions,
to create history."

Daisaku Ikeda, Buddhism Day by Day, page 318

What a great quote! BRING IT ON!
How often do we have that feeling, for real, in life?

When we are chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo every day, twice a day we build up resilience, wisdom and strength. When life hits us we bounce back stronger, not weaker.

I've been laying low for awhile because I've fallen twice over the last month. Boy, is that my family karma, I tell you! My Mom and my Aunt were both plagued with falling. I have more compassion than ever for them. Anyone can fall. The first time I fell on some watery steps during hurricane Hermine, and last week I twisted my foot walking on the sand. It's giving me lots of time to swim, write and read!

I'm chanting for my Mom and her sister, my Aunt. I'm reflecting on how frustrated I got with them sometimes, and apologizing in my heart. I'm chanting to change this karma of falling forever, and be healthier than ever.

I'm living in my personal paradise in Florida, learning about it, making friends, chanting abundant daimoku. As I'm writing this I hear the waves coming in...such a beautiful sound!

In a few moments the presidential debate will be on.
I'm chanting for this country...for the world...for wisdom to prevail. WISDOM. JUSTICE. WISDOM!

Life is a Grand Adventure! Any Readers in Florida?

(You can now subscribe to this blog by putting your email in the box to the right)

You are reading Chantforhappiness.com - a blog written by a 30 year Nichiren Buddhist and Soka Gakkai, SGI, member...a blog to inspire all who read it that ANYTHING is possible, and that, NO MATTER WHAT the circumstances, we can turn poison into medicine, and do more than overcome our challenges...we can turn them into BENEFITS by chanting the name of the rhythm of life itself...Nam-myoho-renge-kyo!

I am here in Key West Florida, on an adventure of my new life. This morning I reread the post from July 5th, the day that my old life ended, and this new one began...the day that my sweet boy, my Benjamin Lee Silver, my son of 22 years, began his new journey of eternal life. And I am here, living my life with him eternally, loving, enjoying, spreading my light, and his light far and wide, and bringing love everywhere I go. Now I am in the sunshine of Key West Florida, making new friends, dancing and basking in the sun.
Here is the post from July 5th if you'd like to read it. The messages at the end, the comments from readers...how they touch my heart!

http://chantforhappiness.blogspot.com/2015/07/to-my-dear-friends-about-my-ben.html?showComment=1456585226831#c8366076978197050657

I am determined to show proof of this practice through my life, through my writings back and forth with my eternal Ben, through all that is possible by chanting!

Yesterday, in Key West, I met new friends dancing and listening to a talented singer. We were in an outdoor restaurant, and I noticed a woman watching from the sidewalk. I invited her to join us, and she said "No, I can't, I'm the singer's mother and I will embarrass him." I said "My son died this summer! You must come join us right now!" And she did! We all danced together, took pictures, toasted to mother and son, and enjoyed the rest of his show!

We are all Buddhas! We can bring forth our true Buddha Nature by chanting these profound words, this profound vibration.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From "Lectures On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime, by Daisaku Ikeda, page 62:
"It is the heart that is important. (WND-1, pg 1000)
writes Nichiren Daishonin.
Our heart, our mind, is truly wondrous and unfathomable. We can expand and deepen the inner realms of our spirit infinitely and boundlessly. (infinitely and boundlessly!! jls)
Like the elation of soaring freely
through the vast blue heavens,
the heart can feel immense and untrammeled joy.
Like the clear, bright sunshine illuminating all things,
the heart can embrace those who are suffering
with warmth and compassion.
And like a lion of justice,
the heart can also at times
tremble with righteous anger and defeat evil.
Indeed, our heart or mind is constantly changing,
like scenes in a drama or like and unfolding panorama.
And nothing is more wondrous
than its ability to manifest the world of Buddhahood.
Even people weighed down by delusion and suffering
can bring forth in the depths of their lives
the state of Buddhahood that is one with the universe.
This momentous drama of transformation
is the greatest of all wonders."
What is True Success in Life?
The sun is always there - but we can't always see it!
I've been riding on a high for these last few days, feeling the flow and momentum of the new year, and the excitement of a fun weekend and BOOM, we are hit with freezing cold weather, and I have a speech tomorrow, and suddenly some of the sadness and hopelessness resurfaces...
But, thankfully, my friend in faith came over and we chanted about 45 minutes. Part of that daimoku was "wondering Daimoku." That's what I call the type of chanting where you are not really praying, but just rolling ideas around in your head. I don't like it when I do this, but it is not a reason to stop...it's more a reason to keep going until I break out of it. By the end, I felt more rejuvenated and I'm going to bed early to wake up early for my speech.
Once again, the importance of having friends in faith, and in never giving up, is crucial. I hope you all have friends in faith, and if you don't - it's a great goal to chant about!
Here are two of my favorite quotes:
"What is success in life?
Who are the truly successful?
There are famous and powerful people
who become pitiful figures in their old age.
There are people who die alone,
feeling empty and desolate.
Just what is success?
The English thinker Walter Pater (1839-94) wrote:
"To burn always with this hard, gemlike flame, to maintain this ecstasy, is success in life."
The person who lives life fully, glowing with life's energy, is the person who lives a successful life."
"Such things as money, fame and material possessions
offer fleeting satisfaction
that can be called relative happiness.
However, when we transform our lives internally,
when we develop within ourselves a brilliant inner palace, then we can be said
to have established absolute happiness."
16 Points and a PowerPrayer to Rid Your Life of Despair
You Can Do it!
16 Tips and a PowerPrayer for overcoming despair
It is possible to permanently change your basic state of life. I know. I did it. And I know countless other Buddhists  who have. Of course, I may still feel sad. But I never, ever experience the sadness I used to live with most of my life. And I am not on any medication. (Not that you should just stop taking yours. Buddhism is common sense. Please chant for the wisdom to know what to do, and work with your medical practitioner if you are on medications)
Jamie’s 16 tips to rid your life of Despair:
by Jamie Lee Silver from ChantforHappiness.com
Tip #1
Chant as much as you can.
Ask someone to chant with you!
Get support!
Tip #2:
Study Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism.
There are a few quotes from the Gosho I've embedded in my life:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Suffer what there is to suffer and enjoy what there is to enjoy, and continue chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo no matter what happens...then you will experience boundless joy from the law."
From Happiness in This World, Writings of Nichiren Daishonin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of my favorite quotes from Daisaku Ikeda (from the book Learning from the writings. The Hope-Filled Teachings of Nichiren Daishonin. Page 277:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Seen from the perspective of Buddhism,
everything has profound meaning.
There is no need whatsoever to vacillate
between elation and despair at each turn of events.
There is no such thing as a storm that will
continue blowing and wreaking havoc without end.
In the same way,
there is no hardship that will continue forever.
There are clear days and there are rainy days.
If we are swayed by our environment,
rejoicing one moment and despairing the next
amid ever-changing circumstances,
then we will not be able to accomplish
a true revolution in our state of life.
The important thing
is to always believe in the mystic law
and to enter the powerful orbit of faith,
practice and study.
Entering the orbit - the orbit of human revolution
and of changing our karma -
is the way to construct a life
of good fortune and happiness
that will endure throughout eternity.
No matter what happens,
we will enjoy the unerring protection of the Gohonzon.
Instead of drawing conclusions about the world of faith
from a superficial viewpoint,
we need to calmly discern
the true reality and significance of things
and keep pressing forward.
With the passage of time,
it will definitely become clear
 that everything has unfolded
in the best possible manner."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tip #3:
I take plenty of Vitamin D. For me, sometimes I just need more Vitamin D.
Also I drink a LOT of water!
Tip #4:
Encourage someone else! Give a stranger a Nam-myoho-renge-kyo card. Talk to someone you know about past benefits you've had. Doing this will remind you of how you've broken through in the past, and you'll gain more hope for the present.
Tip #5:
Take a bath with salt in it...the more salt the better!
Tip #6:
As I've mentioned before, clean your Butsudan and altar area. The altar in your home is a reflection of your own life. When you treat it with respect, your environment and all the people in it treat you with respect. If you do not yet have a Gohonzon you can still set up an altar where you chant with offerings to your life...fruit, water, a plant, candles, and incense if you like.
Tip #7:
Call a true friend. And if you don't have one, see the PowerPrayer for making friends.
This is how I made so many friends.
Tip #8:
As soon as you can, get back in front of the altar to chant. And don't be afraid to cry in front of the Gohonzon or while you are chanting. heck, for the first couple of years I cried a lot when I chanted. It was as if my life had to release years and years of  emotion.
Tip #9:
Move your body. Go for a walk! Get your energy and your blood flowing!
Tip #10:
Study~
Read the Gosho or President Ikeda's writings! When you read these things - read them with your life. Choose a phrase or a passage and chant to realize its deeper meaning with your life. Chant to share the heart of Daisaku Ikeda. He has a heart beating with the fervent drum of Kosen Rufu (World Peace and the happiness of all beings).
Tip #11:
When I feel sad ~ I write. I write all the sadness out. Sometimes I write to my Mom, sometimes to Ben. When I hold my pen on the paper and keep writing - they write me back. It takes no special skill - just the belief that it is possible.
I write everything. It helps to clear my mind. I write fresh determinations. I write letters. I write poetry.
Tip #12:
Change “Why me?” to “Yes me!”
Change what you are saying to yourself, and the questions you are asking yourself in your mind. If your constant refrain is "Why me? How can this be happening to me again?" it is important to change that thought. Replace it with a more positive thought. You chose that thought, you have the power to choose a better one! How about "Things are getting better and better for me, I just know it...sometimes it is hard to see, but I am definitely on my way!" or "Don't give up (insert your name) it's always darkest before the dawn!"
Tip #13:
Breathe deeply. When we are feeling low we tend to breathe in a really shallow way, and it adds to our depression to breathe this way. Sit down and focus on your breathing. Fill your body with air. Picture that air as a bright light coming down from the top of your head...slowly moving down your body as your grey depressive mood seeps out your fingers and toes. Try this. It really does work!
Tip #14:
Smile! Go look at yourself in the mirror and smile. Look in your eyes and smile. Did you know it is almost impossible to be depressed when you are smiling?
Tip #15:
Look up! That's right, look up. Tony Robbins, the inspirational success coach and mentor says that looking down has been proven to actually bring people down, while looking up has the opposite effect.
Tip #16:
PowerPrayer to Rid your Life of Despair
by Jamie Lee Silver, Chantforhappiness.com
Read before chanting to fuel your mind!
"Gohonzon (my life itself!)
Now is the time for me to rise from these emotions
so I can show actual proof of the power of this law.
NOW is the time for me
to vanquish these feelings of hopelessness.
I will NO LONGER allow these feelings to run my life.
NOW I CHOOSE TO BE HAPPY!
I am a precious child of the Buddha,
I will not stand for these feelings anymore. I
 vow to win in all aspects of my life.
I vow to win!"
3 Benefits of Consistent Practice and 4 Ways to Achieve it
I've been receiving emails from readers who have many challenges, and are not chanting consistently, and I think "If only they knew what a joy it is to practice consistently...many problems just fade away!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Living in the saha world, it is impossible to stop the winds of suffering from blowing. Our only alternative is to become strong.
Daisaku Ikeda, August Living Buddhism, page 50

"The Japanese word for fellow member, or comrad (doshi) can also be read as "shared resolve," or commitment. The SGI is a gathering of fellow members, comrades in faith, who share the same resolve and purpose.
..."SGI members, dedicated to the earnest resolve of helping all people, are the treasures of the world. SGI members, with the resolve to realize peace, are the treasures of humanity. The expansion of our network of shared resolve will change the planet into a beautiful treasure realm."
Daisaku Ikeda, September 2015 Living Buddhism, page 39

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Always remember how noble and important you are!
How do we become strong? By strengthening our resolve, and our practice.
When we do our practice every morning and evening our problems get smaller because we raise our life condition.
We can each picture our problems as a big wall in front of us. When we practice consistently our life condition rises, just as if we are a big balloon rising to the sky. What looked like an insurmountable wall is now a tiny little ridge - way below us. We can step right over it.
How can we establish and maintain a consistent practice?
How can we reinforce our determination to practice twice a day every day, strengthen our lives and create unshakable benefit?
3 benefits of consistent practice
(Doing morning and evening gongyo and chanting daimoku consistently)
1. It's easier. Once you establish the practice you just greet your life twice a day in front of the Gohonzon without having to force yourself to do it. It just becomes part of your life.
2. Benefits flow more consistently,
3. It WORKS! You change your karma, embrace your challenges and win over any challenge you face. You get what you want and so much more.
4 Dynamic ways
to establish a consistent practice
1. Determine that you want to use this practice to the best of your ability! Chanting consistently means winning the battle over your lesser self. Make your list of determinations and goals.  What have you decided is impossible in your life? We chant to make the impossible possible. Go for it.
2. Embrace your friends in the SGI. (You can click on the SGI Portal to the right to find your local SGI, if you're not connected yet. Remember there are no dues or rules or priests. The SGI is an organization of people working together for their own happiness and the sake of others.)
3. Establish a "Chanting Buddy" to chant with you.
Our friends in the SGI are our friends in faith. When I was first chanting 28 years ago my mentor came to my house every morning for a few weeks to help me generate Activation Energy for my practice.
4. Establish a Tele-Toso Chanting Buddy
If you can't chant together in person you can do it by telephone, or by text. Just establish a time and contact each other before and after. If you want, you can keep the telephone connection while you chant. (It's better if one person turns the volume down.) Or you can just call or text before and after.
An Experience in Chanting Consistently:
Chanting consistently must be experienced to be understood.
My dear "Baby Buddha" (the nickname she chose for herself) heard me tell her for two years to chant every morning and evening, and she replied that she doesn't do ANYTHING consistently and wasn't going to do this. No way. I kept chanting for her and inviting her to chant. And one day, she just made the decision to try chanting twice a day to see how it felt. She couldn't believe how different she felt. She also realized a deep desire and began to chant for it to happen. Now she lives in Colorado - she got what she was chanting for! THIS is why we practice. Our desires are worth chanting for!
You may have other ways of creating and maintaining your consistent practice. Please share them with me and I'll share them with the other readers of this blog. Email me at chantforhappiness.com with your ideas, questions, suggestions, victories and challenges.
PowerPrayer for Overcoming Obstacles!
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
May the Luck of the Irish be with you!
And, as we say in Chicago,
EVERYONE is Irish on St. Patrick's Day!
As you may know, I have responded to your requests to have chantforhappiness.com sent directly to your inboxes.
I have heard from many of you in the last few days and I really appreciate it!
I would like to meet you all...to talk with you...to see you...or even just talk on the phone. Getting blogs sent to you was the first step. Now I'm working on a website that can make more connections happen.  I've been chanting to find a great web guru for some time and now I've found her. Thanks Lynn!
Right now, more people than ever are reading Chantforhappiness.com. We have close to 40k readers and new subscribers are joining every day. My mission for this blog is to reach all who are longing for real solutions to their problems. Chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo works! Thank you all for sharing this blog, subscribing (see button at the right) and working together to create a world of peace and happiness for all!
As you know, in any worthy endeavor/breakthrough ~ obstacles HAVE to arise.
After I posted yesterday's powerful PowerPrayer for Youth I talked to my son Ben, and he was not doing very well.
So I grasped the handles of my faith and dug in with Daimoku.
I chanted for two more hours (after my two in the morning) and Monday morning I chanted another two hours with this PowerPrayer below in mind. When I connected with him after I chanted, he was much better.
Obstacles are a natural function of life. And the important question is this ~ Can we see problems for what they are, necessary obstacles to FUEL our determination and make us focus our minds while chanting...And deepen our faith!? Or are we FOOLED by them into thinking "Oh no...this is never going to work out." then give up?
It is up to each of us to either determine to win, or just succumb to losing.
The first step is recognizing them for what they are:
"When devilish functions are recognized for what they are, they lose their power."
Daisaku Ikeda, June 2013, Living Buddhism page 23.
The second step is rousing our determination and roaring from the depths of our lives with the full force of the Nam-myoho-renge-kyo we are!
Please do not copy and paste this PowerPrayer. If you wish to share it please cut and paste the url or share it using the buttons at the bottom of the post.
Please email chantforhappiness@gmail.com with your victories from using these PowerPrayers!
Not any more.
I'm in charge now.
PowerPrayer to Overcome Our BIGGEST Obstacle!
What do we do when we have a problem that looks like it is bigger than Nam-myoho-renge-kyo?
Have you ever had one of those?
When you think to yourself...
"Oh well, all those other Buddhists,
they've never seen THIS problem."
And although you have seen results from your practice, year after year, somehow you think THIS problem is different. THIS problem is too much for the Gohonzon. In your heart you know that nothing is more powerful than your prayer...but also, in your heart, you are struggling to summon absolute faith that Nam-myoho-renge-kyo can overcome THIS one?
What do you do?
The answer to this question lies in our SGI organization. It is precisely for this reason, and many others, that we practice together.
When I was facing a problem that seemed impossible I consulted a friend in faith who said:
"This is just another opportunity for your life to stand up and tell your fundamental darkness who is BOSS. This is just another WAVE, just another WAVE. You MUST stand up to it. You must chant with the conviction that there is no other way than your victory. You must summon that conviction from within your heart."
Okay....
And I chanted with absolute conviction that my prayer...this very moment was EXACTLY the breakthrough I needed to solve the problem and to END MY SUFFERING over the problem.
And I have felt renewed confidence and vigor ever since.
Whatever you are facing...It is just another wave. Stand UP to it!
