Mother Poem by Daisaku Ikeda

In honor of Soka Mother's Day I post this picture of my own sweet Mommy and her beloved boys, Aaron, Ben and Tyler.
Below is the poem Daisaku Ikeda wrote about his own mother. I first read this on a plaque at FNCC in 2010 and it still moves me to grateful tears.

By Daisaku Ikeda

Mother, what a wondrous, nourishing power you have!
Were it not for you in this world,
People would lose the earth to return to,
And wander for all eternity.

Mother, our mother.
Persevering through the storm,
You offered prayers in sadness.

I pray you will stay in good health until the day
When all your wishes are fulfilled,
And, as though endowed with wings,
you take flight toward the heavens.

Mother, with your ideas and wisdom,
I hope you will perform a melody of peace on the earth,
Where people look forward to the arrival of spring.
Thus, you will become the mother of the Century of Humanity

  1. This is probably not the right place for this but I dont know where to put it. I have been reading this blog for months. I have been going to local meetings for over a year. I chant and chant and sometimes I don't. I finally took the big step and did my application, and will get my gohonzon this month. I am excited and sort of nervous. I chanted through my obstacle of not trusting others and not trusting the process. I became angry that I was getting in my way and not making a commitment because I was scared. I thought of the people I met and the wonderful stories and support on this site. I'm still feeling a bit nervous like after you sign some big mortgage papers, but oh well. Thank you!! And please keep this blog going.

  2. Congratulations to you! You will be triumphant. You will win! The most important thing is "Do not give up!" Please write your dreams and goals. And please keep in touch. I would love to hear your whole experience of getting your Gohonzon adn the victories that follow. Happy Gohonzon Birthday to you. This is a day you will never forget.

    All my best, Jamie

  3. Congratulations! and Thank You!

    1. My mom is no more. and it is very difficult for me to live without my mom. I lost my mom because I had been ditched by so many people,
